The papers concern Alastair Trevor Clark’s writing and colonial duties from the beginning of his career in 1949 until the end of his professional career in 1990. They relate to colonial relations within Nigeria and other countries including Hong Kong and the Solomon Islands. The papers comprise letters, manuscript, articles, printed material, maps, government documents, despatches, press cuttings, photographs and reprints of articles.

Scope and Contents The narrative, which is in English and may be a copy of a journal written during the campaign, describes in some detail the march from Dresden to Prague, the battle and siege of Prague, and the retreat to Saxony after Kolin. Scope and Contents

The contents are compiled from official and other documents, and consist of: rolls of service of the officers, non-commissioned officers, and men who went to the Crimea; rolls of promotions, honours, and awards; detailed returns of the state and strength of the battalion, including medical reports; a journal of the campaigns and battles in which the battalion took part.

The notebook is illustrated with occasional sketches, ink and watercolour, and with two military poems.
